COLOMBO – Shadab Khan made a spectacular return to form on Wednesday, guiding Pakistan to a dominant 6-wicket victory over Sri Lanka in the first T20I of the series. Shadab’s disciplined bowling (2 for 25), followed by an unbeaten 30-run cameo, ensured that the “Green Shirts” chased down the target of 158 with ease.
The victory is seen as a crucial morale booster ahead of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026. “It’s always great to contribute to a win. The conditions were tricky, but we stuck to our plans,” Shadab said after being named Player of the Match. Fast bowler Abrar Ahmed also impressed with his variations, stifling the Sri Lankan middle order during the death overs.
Cricket fans have praised the team’s aggressive intent, especially the performance of youngster Sameer Minhas, who provided a brisk start at the top. The second T20I is scheduled for the same venue on Saturday.
