LAHORE – In a bid to maintain its market share against new Chinese entrants, MG Motors Pakistan announced a massive price reduction of up to Rs. 600,000 for its popular HS Plug-in Hybrid (PHEV) model. The announcement, made on Tuesday, has triggered a wave of interest among buyers looking for fuel-efficient luxury crossovers.
The price cut comes at a time when other brands, such as Chery and Omoda, are also preparing to launch locally assembled hybrid units. “We want to ensure that our customers get the best value for their money. The MG HS PHEV remains the most advanced hybrid in its class,” a company spokesperson stated.
Market observers believe this “price war” is a win for the consumer. “For years, buyers were stuck with limited options. Now, with more brands competing, we are finally seeing a correction in the inflated car market,” a Karachi-based auto dealer commented.
